The Minelab GPX 5000 is seen as the king of metal detectors when it comes to gold detecting, simply put  it is a great revolution to the metal detecting industry as it boasts of very nice and unique features.

However to be very fair you can say how exactly detector can detect because this depends on a lot of factors, such as size of target object and many other factors.

For me, Minelab GPX 5000 has been able to squeeze out all the performance I expect from a pulse induction (PI) and thus I expect nothing much from future Pulse Induction detectors.

It’s amazing the level of stability and the length of depth the GPX 5000 can reach. I am also marveled at the level of sensitivity of the GPX 5000, as it acts as if it has a mind of its own. Also, the GPX 5000 can be adjusted to handle various levels of soil mineralization as well as hot rocks that may obstruct the GPX 5000 sensors.

I think that Minelab should work on the iron discrimination system, which to some extent is not totally reliable and to some extent useless when trying to launch a deep target.

Another reason, why I love the Minelab GPX 5000 is that it is as simple as you can get and I don’t think you would run into any problems with the GPX 5000 anytime soon. The LED indicators are really bright and the buttons are easy to see and understand.

Minelab pulse induction is seen as the best, right from their earlier products, they are said to be among the best when it comes to gold and nugget detection.

Pulse induction detectors are very good at getting longer depths even in somewhat mineralized grounds, this is because of strong transmitters it can use and vast selection of different coil sizes and shapes suitable for the detector, thus making this detector great for finding gold nuggets that have been missed by regular VLF detectors even in vicinity considered quiet from a mineralization point of view.
